posted : August 9, 2015 Post subject: Spaces Available Scapa Flow Diving Trip - Sat 3rd October to Sat 10th October
I am sadly no longer able to go on this diving trip so am looking for someone to fill my space. There are also 2 additional spaces left on the trip (subject to availability).\
The group going are a mix of divers from High Wycombe Sub Aqua Club and are a fantastic bunch.\
I have already paid the boat charter fee so payment will be to me to secure the trip, other costs not paid for already are outlined below.\
• Diving and living aboard the MV Valkyrie.\
• 2 dives per day (weather conditions permitting) Sunday to Friday – 12 dives in total.\
• Diving the spectacular WWI German Fleet Wrecks in Scapa Flow.\
• Boarding in Stromness is from 13.00 on Saturday 3rd October. Departure by 09.00 on Saturday 10th October.\
• The boat moors up in Stromness each evening giving you a chance to explore.\
• Boat charter fee - £417 per person (special discounted rate).\
• This covers accommodation, air fills and 12 dives (weather conditions permitting). \
Other Costs:\
• Food is not included in the charter fee and is charged at the end of the stay – c. £120 (prices available on request as they vary from year to year).\
• Nitrox is available and is charged based on mix and cylinder size at the end of the stay. For Trimix they need 24 hours notice to buy the helium.\
• Ferry costs – c. £150 (dependent on ferry route and whether bring a car).\
The Boat:\
• The Valkyrie is the proud winner of the Sport Diver Award ‘Best Liveaboard 2014′.\
• They are the only boat in Scapa to have staff aboard 24hrs a day, 7 days a week ready to assist you in whatever you need.\
• Has an all-important diver lift.\
• All meals are cooked fresh on board every day (no meals are provided on Saturdays) – includes breakfast, lunch and a three course dinner. The food is absolutely amazing!!\
• For more information visit\
The Diving:\
• All of the WWI German wrecks lie approximately 50 minutes from the port of Stromness. All have a shotline on them. Maximum depth to the seabed is around 44m. Least depth to the seabed is around 12m.\
Getting There:\
Getting to Scapa itself is dependent on where you are coming from. There are two basic ways of doing it if you chose to drive:\
• The Scrabster-Stromness Ferry is the most popular and probably the most straight forward way of doing this trip. The route is operated by Northlink Ferries. Cost is £146 - £36 for 1 passenger and £110 for a car.\
• The ferry from Gills Bay to St Margret’s Hope operated by Pentland ferries. However, St Margret’s Hope is around 45 mins drive from Stromness, so be aware that you will not be able to simply walk to the boat from the ferry terminal! Cost is £100 - £30 for 1 passenger and £70 for a car.\
Any questions, or if you\'re interested in coming along give me a bell on 07739018837.\
P.S. Normal rules apply in terms of payments - once you confirm, you\'re liable for the payment. If you can\'t make it you still have to pay unless a replacement is found.
