Hello - I have 3 teenagers and two adults - all complete novices who want to do this summer for a week in the sun and to learn to dive. (or as much as we can get done). Can anyone recommend the right place or places within 4/5 hours fliying to do this. Any help gratefully received. Thnaks

I do not think you can do better than Gran Canary Divers who have a fully equipped dive centre, a house reef within a very short walk and a mini bus to take students to one of the best dive sites around at El Cabron.
The centre is 5 star PADI and can teach and certify to any level.

I learnt to dive last month at the Movenpick PADI school in Aqaba, Jordan. I learnt in three days and got my open water certification with full marks the whole way through, which is testimony to the teaching. The instructors were fantastic, the centre is on the beach and right next to the swimming pool and you can walk out to their house reef which is beautiful. They let you pick another site to look around on the Aqaba coast for your final dive, and when you're done learning they run dives to all the other beautiful dive sites along the Aqaba coast. Couldn't recommend it enough - learning to dive in the habitat of top class red sea dive sites couldn't be a better start, and Jordan is a fantastic country if you fancied staying a bit longer and having a look around!

Hi, The most efficient way would be to do a PADI referral course. Dont spend you holiday days in the class room and in the pool. With the referral you do the Theory and Pool skills here in the UK Then when you decide where you are going on holiday find a PADI school there and just do the open-water dives. This will give you a full PADI Open Water qualification after only 4 dives.
