I am looking to buy my first cylinder but am unsure what to buy, 12L or 15 L, 232 BAR OR 300 BAR. It is true to say most of my dives will be Inland, although I have just dived the Farne Islands and planning to dive Cornwall this summer. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi Alan Re cylinders,
I have been diving for 20+ years and find a 232 12l is fine for most diving needs I also carry a 232 3l pony on a lot of my dives. the problem with 300 bar cylinders is they cost about 2 more to fill and you often only get a 270 bar fill. with a 15l cylinder the problem is the air is all in one place, ie if you have a valve fail you have no back up, with the pony you have a redundant system in an emargency, hope this is of some help Paul (bsac)

Thanks Paul, I have taken your advice and bought 12L 232 Bottle and a 3L 232 Pony, hope to put this to good use soon.

I have been diving for a few years now, and i have progressed to dive leader. I dive with a 15Ltr tank, and depending on the dive a 3Ltr pony. This can be ample air for 2 or 3 dives depending on depth.
