Here's hoping someone can answer a question which has bugged me for years! Our family sailed from Liverpool to the Isle of Man in 1951 when my dad went to work at Okells (Hooray!). I remember on the voyage out - I was three! - seeing a wreck in Liverpool Bay and I'd love to find out which it was.

It was a lovely sunny and calm day; I remember a grey-painted ship sitting on the bottom with its masts and upperworks above the surface. Her funnel was stocky - not an old-fashioned stovepipe affair. There was an open gallery at wave height - about halfway up the superstructure and its full width. The wreck lay to the North of our IOMSP vessel's route - we seemed to pass very close - with her bow to the South-East and so I presume was inbound when she sank.

Someone out there must know!
