A number of people have asked if I will act as a guide for groups wishing to dive up close to the grey seals at the Farne Islands, NE coast.

I do have experience in this area and was asked by the BBC to give them advice and help with recent u/w seal footage shot at the Farnes.

I have always used one of the skippers up there, William Shiel (and this is not intended as a commercial "plug"!!).

In response to those who have asked and for any other clubs/ groups wishing to dive with a specific intention of just getting close to the seals I believe that the best bet is to e-mail or ring William Shiel directly (diver@farne-islands.com 01665 721297) and book a boat / slots mentioning me and requesting "Seal diving".

If I can dive that weekend I will and I will happily provide briefings and where practical u/w guidance to help enable "close encounters" - obviously without charge!!

Let me know when you are going & I will e-mail you to confirm if I can come as well. (work permitting!)
Hope this helps,
Ben.
