My self & my none Diving wife will be traveling to Playa Del Carmen at the begining of May 2008, could anyone help me by sugesting a good Dive centre that run good value for money dive trips.
While we are there I'm hoping my wife will do a discover diving course, so very important that the staff are excellent as well, and what are the must dive sites in the area.

I am not sure what the weather will be like in Mexico in May; if I remember right, it is the start of the rainy season. My wife and I are going to the Yucatan in December 2008.

Cozumel is the most obvious diving place in the Yucatan and it is only a ferry ride across from Playa del Carmen. I have it on good authority that a lot of dive sites are still recovering from the hurricane damage in 2005. The southern part of the island, where some of the best dives are, is a notable exception. We are going through Dive Palancar, located on the premises of Allegro & Grand Occidental Hotels.

Back on the mainland, there are some good reef and wall dives off Playa del Carmen and Tulum. But try to get some Cenote (cavern) diving in as well. It would be a pity for a diver to go all the way to the Yucatan without diving at least a few cenotes. Check out Budgie Burgess' site via Google for cenote diving.

Hi Shaun,
I was there just in January and I made the best experience with Divemex in Playa.
They offer real good service and a fantastic price. I was so surprised what I paid for them and what others paid. Itīs easy to leave tips like this.
You can find them in the net as divemex.net.

Have fun and enjoy Playa

I will leave another comment now and hope it will not be removed !

I dived with Reef Quest Divers they also have a site reefquestdiversmexico.com the site shows all the sites they cover.

The reef is one of the best I have seen and the variety of fish out of this world, I would go as far as to say I enjoyed it more than the Red Sea and La Paz.

I will definately be going back and will have no hesitation diving with Reef Quest the owner is English and has dived all over the world.

Having not been in the water for a year it was important to me that I went with someone who took care of me as an individual and not just another punter. I was not dissapointed.

Please do not remove this comment this time I may sound like an advert but thats because I used to be in marketing and I cannot help myself when I am enthusiastic lol !!
