Hi

I am considering a dive trip to Marsa Alam but am finding very little in the way of information about the place (land wise) and diving. Holiday operators seem to send you either to Marsa Alam or to El Quseir - which is better for diving (not liveaboards)?

I get the impression that unlike Hurghada/Sharm these places are very small with not much going on outside the hotel - is that true or are there still lots of places to buy/eat - or should we go All in?

Any advice much appreciated!!

Cheers
Danielle

Danielle,
I went to Marsa Alam in March and stayed at the Coral Beach Hotel. The hotel was very good and Emporer divers operate from the hotel.
The hotel is really for divers as there is very little to do outside the hotel.
I booked through Regal dive on a half board basis, the food was excellent and plentiful.
Its not really a place to go if you dont dive. The big advantage is that its not diver soup at the various sites, we were the only boat at the various sites. The guides and boat crew were excellent and couldn`t do enough for you.

Hello Danielle,
I am going back to Marsa Alam in October, was there twice last year. All were/are liveaboards.
If you are just going for the diving then consider a liveaboard, because there is not that much else to do.
