I wouldn't worry it's not as 'spit and sawdust' as people would have you believe - more of an Egyptian theme park tacked on the tip of Sinai. Assuming you'll be in Naama, i'd recommend Il Pomodoro italian restaurant at the top end of the price range - good salads and pizzas in here -there's a good indian attached too and it's next to the Camel bar so easy to find. After a day of this tourist fair you could go to the other extreme and try the Fado cafe down the street which serves good egyptian staple snacks like fuul, tamiya and felafel at a price which to brits is surreally low. Since the bombs the Italians have deserted the place to be replaced by hard-bargaining Russians so you'll have to really search for an expensive meal - unless you go to the appalling excuse for a thai/chinese in the centre which is bland and pricey by naama standards. Have a great time and take care of your buoyancy!
