Malaria tablet- It appears many GPs have different opinion as to which are OK for divers. Couuld anyone advise which are most common/used. I am off to Tanzania in a few weeks. Kind regards,

Hi there. You need to take an antimalarial which is effective in the country you are visiting - this can change so make sure you get up to date advice on this via the GP. Malarone is safe to take whilst diving. Doxycycline is also, but some people develop photosensitivity and can burn easily in the sun with it. Lariam (or mefloquine) should be avoided as it can interact with nitrogen on deeper dives (and often gives people very lucid dreams even if they don't dive). Remember that avoiding getting bitten is the best way of avoiding malaria - long sleeve tops, mosquito nets and insect repellent should be in your travel bags as well.
