Hi there, in 2003 when i was 24 i suffered from a stroke (clot not bleed). The cause was unknown. I suffered temp right sided paralysis but am now fully recovered. I take 75mg aspirin daily and 20mg of simvastatin and am fit as a fiddle! I understand i will need to have a medical to ascertain my fitness to dive but i don't really know where to start! I would be grateful for anyadvice, thanks.

You will definitely need a medical. The slight worry here is that without a defined cause it is virtually impossible to assess the risk of recurrence. We would need to be sure that all tests to investigate the cause drew a blank, ie. there is no known reason that you should get a recurrence. If your overall fitness is good and you have no other risk factors then you could possibly be certified as fit. So see your local dive doc, or if you are in London, it's 0207 806 4028 for an appointment to see us.

Kind regards
