i am 35 years old, a qualified motor mechanic, i also have a city and guilds in mma arc welding and i am currently employed as a full time fire fighter, the question i have is am i to old and will my qualifications help me to gain employment .

The short answer is no as long as you are fit but the older you are the less time you have to gain a return on the investment. It normally takes a couple of years to become established and in effect learn your trade once you have finished at a dive school and during this time you can not expect to earn top money. However the average age of divers is around 45 therefore you should still have time if you want.
