Why does commercial diving have such a bad stigma attached to it?
I've been looking over the net as I'm currently doing a project on commercial diving and it's associated potential environmental impacts, and I've noticed alot of sites view commercial diving as a negative venture. I've even spotted commercial divers called commies! Just wondering why this was?

Commercial divers tend to work hard and play hard this sometimes does not go down too well. As for being called commies most divers are by nature independent spirits with a right wing tendency. However everyone is different and I have seen the most unlikely people make a career in diving as I have seen the most likely fail. I always feel that the majority of the negative views are from divers who for some reason or another did not make their way in the industry and feel let down. The rest of us are to busy working or spending the proceeds.
