Restrictions: An area within 75m radius of position 50° 39' 42" N., 01° 35' 27" W. excluding any part of the area which lies above the high-water mark of ordinary spring tides. Chart affected: 2219.
This site is a designated Historic Wreck under the Protection of Wrecks Act, 1973
The site contains what is thought to be the remains of two wrecks; the Assurance, a 44 gun fifth rate lost in 1738, and the Pomone, a 38 gun fifth rate lost in 1811. The site was recently surveyed by the Hampshire and Wight Trust for Maritime Archaeology.
