Interestingly the torpedo fire was exactly the same thing that happened to the Kursk (russian sub a few years ago). Experimental fuel (H2O2) leaked and caught fire. Not surprising as H2O2 is also used as a rocket propellent.

The Sidon was an S class submarine which is in fact not defined as a wreck at all. the RN classify her as a 'distressed submarine' She was intentionally sunk after suffering a fire caused by a defective experimental torpedo. The submarine is in 37m and sits upright on the seabed. The submarine is complete apart from the lack of propellors which were removed before the sinking. Subsequent thieving divers ahve taken exterior features like the running lights and part of the periscope but the wreck is otherwise in very good condition.
