Hi! Doing my PADI O/W Course at the moment, in a sort of rush before we go on holiday to carribean. This means were diving leybourne lake in march - 4 days after its due to snow! DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY HINTS FOR KEEPING WARM!!! They would be greatly appreciated! It was funny - our friends were warning us about some dive sites on holiday but when they heard the water temp. (would be about 3/4 degrees) they said if we can do leybourne, we can do anywhere! lol well at least theres little current in the lakes!

Good place to train, although the main training area can get stirred up if you are the last in. The sports manager Pete, is a real help, who now runs the excellent shop.

Hiya All, Just completed the PADI O/W course with Lakeside Diving here (W/E 08/08/04). Viz was good at 4-5 meters and a temp of 26deg. Enjoyed the diving and course. We all found the lakes very interesting and can't wait to get some experience so we can go up the upper lakes to see some of the submerged stuff.

Just completed 2 Advanced dives with Blue Ocean Diving on Sunday at the Lake, the first dives in England after diving in OZ and NZ. Quite a bit difference and slightly depressing when I first arrived at the lake. I got caked in mud changing as there are no changing facilites right next to the lake where you need them, thus keeping your equipment clean is difficult when muddy, and parking is a nightmare. The dive itself was okay, though vis could be from 1 to 3 metres, with depths of up 9m. It was pretty busy too, too many divers scrambing for the platforms. For beginners, make sure you wear gloves as it can be very cold as many without found out, especially after three dives. Any dive is fun, but I must say, facilities need improving.

I've dived at Leybourne lake many times, perfect for training/learning, I've never had bad vis, the worst about 3m best around 8m I guess, Pete the guy who runs the place has a website, nice place to dive, very relaxed and even at weekends its not that busy compared to other inland sites. Try the night dive, its pretty good surprisingly! http://www.leybournelakewatersports.co.uk/
