Hello everyone,,\
So I figure that people come to this sub with this question all the time, but I don\'t see anything stickied or in the sidebar, so I don\'t know where to start.\
\
I have some free time right now until February 3rd, and I have $546 of United Airlines credit that expires in March. I haven\'t left the country in a few years, and I\'m especially enamored with the idea of going someplace warm where I can learn to scuba dive. It\'s something I\'ve wanted to do for years.\
\
Where do I start? I see a bunch of airline deals to Cancun, so Cancun or Cozumel or the area would be great. I\'m also flexible and would be willing to go to any other country with my airline credit.\
\
I went to the PADI website and looked for 5 star PADI resorts in Mexico, and the only one came is dressel divers. But I came here and the very first post I see is about how much they suck, so now I\'m not sure.\
\
Any advice? Links to other posts/articles? Where should I go? What do I need to buy? What course should I take - I thought there are courses you can start beforehand so the written portion is out of the way.\
\
I\'m on a tight budget but want a good experience. So for example, I\'d rater dive for three days at a great place and then spend 8 days just traveling/backpacking Mexico than all 11 days at a cheap place. I\'m also willing to stay at cheap, but safe hostels/hotels if it saves money over the resort.\
