I've just done my first try dive and I'm hooked. I've also got access to what seems to be an excellent club. All I need now is to start thinking about gear. I can't seem to get acess to gear that will fit me for a reasonable price.

: So I've got a couple of questions:

: 1. Is it safe to go for second hand gear (bearing in mind my life might depend on it).

: 2. I'm 6' 2" and have a 42" chest and size 13 feet. Where can I find gear for someone of my size. I've looked and looked.

: Any advice appreciated

: Cheers

Hi Mate, Forget all that gear if you have only done a try dive. All you need at the moment is a good mask, Snorkel and fins. You will be hiring your wetsuit, Bcd and weights through your training club. Only after you have qualified will you need to look at the rest of your gear.
: Good luck

Hi, sure its okay to buy used diving gear!

: just remember a few things,
: bottles must be tested once within 5 years, and then every 3 years minimum, youll see a stamp on the bottle (rules may be diffrent at your location, dont buy it if it looks to corrupted)

: suit, dry or wet? well I know youll get in, in your size from most shops that offer import and service!

: othervise, use common sence while buying your stuff, if it looks too old, it proberly is! give www.ebay.co.uk a shot

most of my gear is secondhand and i have no problems

but i would advise getting a new mask and snorkle as they are personal to you....

also I'd be carfull with ebay as some times a tank may look fine on the outside but inside it could be wrecked and useless
