Hi guys, wanting to extract some info from the diving community about what I need to do to return to the water after quite an absence. I did my open water a few years ago but haven't been diving for at least 5 years. Do I need to do a refresher course or what??? I'm rather clueless on the subject! Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks xx

i have just started to get back in after a 5-6 year absence. the advice that was given to me is to start the corse again as some practises and standards may of changed. for example buddy breathing was practiced when i learned 7 years ago and to my understanding that is now longer practised in some diving organisations such as BSAC.

some things you will breeze through such as mask clearing.. buoyancy control etc, but they might be new things too.

thats what was suggested to me.

hope it helps
