Schedule 3 - Shellfish diving

The class of Shellfish Diving is defined as diving for shellfish:

1. inshore within United Kingdom territorial sea adjacent to Great Britain (generally 12 nautical miles from the low water line) which is covered by the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 (Application outside Great Britain) Order 2001(22);
2. inland in Great Britain including in rivers, lakes, ponds and reservoirs;

but does not include diving:

1. deeper than 50 metres;
2. where closed bell or saturation diving techniques are used;
3. from vessels maintaining station by the use of dynamic positioning;

for which a qualification for the class of Offshore Diving is required.
HSE approves the following qualifications for the class of Shellfish Diving.
All those qualifications listed under Offshore and Inland/Inshore Diving, plus:
Great Britain

* HSE Shellfish Diving(23)

Recreational

* CMAS 3*
* CMAS 3* equivalent in a recreational agency/organisation whose qualifications are approved by HSE for the class of Recreational Diving

I can not understand something? ;)

Yes mate. If you are diving for pay you must be HSE (or equivalent) qualified commercial SCUBA at least. Divemaster is a PADI qualification for working with recreational diving.
That is the minimum qualification that fish farm divers have and they will be pretty peeved after spending a few k on the ticket if a scoobie is taking their work

Think you will find for shellfish diving the hse accept cmas and padi dm tickets as an equivilant crossover level for shellfish diving only. It is not accepted for fish farm work, but you will find for shellfish diving only, divemaster tickets are acceptable.
