I took a break over to Costa Brava, mostly to experience the Medes Islands, but booked in to help with the Silmar Project (research & record key species). It was very worthwhile & really educational. I did lots of ecodiving & got loads of good pictures. Gaye Rosier who runs the project made all the arrangements, I opted to stay in an apartment rather that the bunkhouse but both were ok & low cost, she's at www.marine-life-costa-brava.org. I did plenty of fun diving too, anyone visiting the Costa Brava should make a point of diving the wreck of the Marmoler. She lies on a flat seabed at 40m & there's oodles of marine life & good vis too. A big thumbs up from me & made even better because it didn't burn my bank balance.
