I am interested in WWII Plane wrecks. My uncle was MIA after his plane went down somewhere near the English coast, if the information we have so far is correct, in the North Sea. If there is a way to find out if the wreck has been charted or is known of, I would like to find out. Thank you for any help you can give me! He was in a P-51 that went down 0n 9/21/1944 off the coast near Lowestoft.

I have done a little bit of research into aircraft wrecks of the Yorkshire coast. They are extremely hard to find with any conventional type of sonar equipment. The other side of the bad penny is that due to the construction of aircraft I'm afraid they don't fair to well on the sea bed. The only ones that I know off that have been found are in deep water.
The lowestoft area is quite shallow so I'm afraid that there wouldn't be much chance of finding anything except maybe an engine block and that is only if it hasn't been towed away in a fishing trawl net.
