I am going on vacation near Belle Mare / Trou d'Eau Douce in Mauritius in early May. I am finding it quite hard to find potential dive centres in the area, and even more difficult to get an idea of diving costs.Has anyone any recommendations or information?

I didn't get any responses to my original request, but thought that I would post this for any future visitors to the Trou D'eau Douce / Belle Mare area of Mauritius.

The problem that I was having was that most Easy Coast dive centers are VERY expensive, as they are based in the large 5* hotels. I eventually found Divetime Ltd, who are based in the Emeraude Hotel at Belle Mare. This was a smallish operation, but went to the same dive sites as everyone else, and operated all of the 'safe diving' practices that I would expect from a friendly and competent center.

Currently the hotel is being refurbished, but Dave is expecting his dive center accommodation to be eventually updated as part of this refurb. Dave is very friendly, and accommodating. May is the start of the Mauritian winter, and the East coast always has a strong breeze. This results in some quite choppy sea conditions, and a little reduction in visibility over the summer months of November - February. However Dave was happy to do an excursion across to the NW of the island and do 2 dives from a dive center there, as long as there were at least 2 people interested. Divetime also charged less than half the price of any other dive center that I cane across, making Dave extremely competitive.

I would certainly recommend Dave, and if anyone requires contact details then feel free to contact me.
