the turtles of malaysia are declining very quickly with the leatherbacks nearly extinct! I am working on a project which has three phases to address the problems for the turtles in Perhentian.
Phase 1 - Protect all nesting females and their eggs
Phase 2 - Establish migration route of the turtles
Phase 3 - Protect feeding grounds.
In addition to this we are running after-school marine clubs to educate the children so when the hatchlings come back we they are welcomed with open arms. We are starting the marine clubs on the islands in phase 1 then on the mainland phase 2 and then the feeding grounds phase 3.
