very subjective topic! personally, i would suggest something that would be suited to not only your current level of diving but to how far you'd like to take your diving.
when starting out, it's all to easy to buy a rig then find you've quickly outgrown it - all of my first set of gear has been replaced at least once.
my bcd of choice is a custom divers TDB wing & harness. not cheap, but it's bullet proof and suits a wide range of diving.
having used a wing, it'd take a very good reason for me to swap back to a stab jacket stylee.
for wings, look at OMS, dive rite, CD etc.

the old buddy commando used to be the uk workhorse stab jacket. as for the new crop, really couldn't suggest anything as i've not used nor looked at them.

Try the Diventure Range BCD, they are ideal BCD's for New Divers.

If you want something that will last then the new Buddy Commando is simply stunning. Granted it's not a wing, but it's built like the proverbial outhouse, has huge amounts of lift and is extremely comfortable. There are cheaper BCDs available but I've not tried them all. One I would certainly not recommend is the Tigulio T-52 BCD/Wing hybrid. The build quality was awful. I say get the Commando.
