Due to complete a Deep Dive course and have been looking at the various Torch / Light options - rightly or wrongly, i have been looking to initially buy a good quality Backup torch for the short to medium term as a 'main' light source, eventually replacing this with the 'real thing'. I am concerned with the weight and size of what i would describe as 'hand gun' style torches and have been looking at the Halcyon LED Scout Light (130) - my price range is anywhere between 0 (i wish) and 130 - any ideas? Also considering Tektite Expedition Star (50).

Hi Stephboucher,

Try the german company "Hartenberger"

Have used one of there halogen lights for 8 years and newer had any problems at all. Changed the battery twice, have made more than 1000 dives with it and still on the orignal light bulb.

Might not be the cheapest option but will last you forever if you take good care of it. My next one is gonna be a, yep you got it right.

Happy bubbles

hi, i'm going travelling the world and wanted a torch that i could use out of water, as a primary for night dives, as a day dive torch for looking under ledges, that had a looong burn time, was smal lto go in a rucksack, solidly built as was NOT rechargable (so i didnt have to carry charger andd often would be able to plug in anyway.

After a whole lotta reseach, speaking to people, dive forums, test results and suchlike I settled on

FA&MI Pocket 40 LED followed by
FA&MI Power 40 LED

Power50 LED has too short a burn time. Other contenters were. Seac X Led (too big for me) takes 8 aa instead of 4 aa

you prob have some differnt criteria to me but just thought this maybe useful
