Hi,

I am going to be going diving in Tobago in August for 6 weeks and ive purchased an underwater case for my Ixus 850is. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with using this configuration and if you could give me any hints or tips as I wont have acess to a computer to check the pictures out properly.

Also I was wondering if I need an external flash for it, if such a thing exisits?

Does anyone have any examples of photo's taken on a simular setup I could look at so I can know what to expect?

Thanks in Advance!!

Mark

Also,

One other thing I have noticed canon seel some weights to counterbalance the camera in the bottom to stop it floating when you are under water. Are these a good idea and will I have difficulties diving if I dont have them?

Thanks again,

Mark

Hi,
we used a Canon Ixus850 in an Ikelite housing, for the first time in the Maldives this year. We don't dive, but I can advise that yes, you will need external lights and yes, you would need weights to use it at depth. I had very good advice from the people at www.camerasunderwater.co.uk, it might pay you to give them a ring, they are extremely helpful. I have snorkelled in Tobago and the water can be a bit murky, due to the plankton. It's a great place to go, we went to the Blue Waters Inn, opposite Little Tobago. You are so lucky to be there for six weeks. Have a great time.

Hi Mark,
well if it does we don't know, because we didn't even know there was a setting for underwater. I guess when snorkelling it doesn't make any difference, but maybe underwater it would as you need white balance. Better read the manual.:-)
If you would like to see some results from the Ixus850, have a look at our website and click on Vakarufalhi 2007.

The video was very good too. We were really pleased with the results.
