Hey all, just joined and would love lots of information about cool dive sites in the North East (Im based in durham) I've been here for two years and not done anything local execpt a couple of dives off the coast of Tynemouth. I've heard about St Mary's Island and places like Knackers Hole but have no dive knowledge on them...

SO...

can anyone recommend a good dive site up here, and/ or provide information about it, such a s currents, hazards, when its best to dive, what to see etc. (basically everything I need to know to go off and explore them)

Looking at doing stuff up to 20m, though I'm qualified to 35m (BSAC Sports)

thanks all,
Tim

Thanks very much for your reply andy but what I was really looking for was information about the dives sites you have listed that would allow me to go and dive them, such as whether there are strong currents or any other hazards I should be aware of. Do you know anything like that about the sites you have listed?
