My husband and I are trying to plan our next diving holiday. He is a new recruit to scuba (10 dives) and I don't have that much experience (~30 dives) and neither of us has ever been on a liveaboard. We were thinking of going to the Maldives as it's supposed to be "the place" to dive but cannot decide on liveaboard vs staying in a resort. We realise that you get more diving & variety of dive sites on a liveaboard but don't know how we'd fare on one 24/7 with not much land-break for a week! Consequently, we were wondering whether it is possible or not to go on a liveaboard for less than a week as, after fairly extensive research, we can only find operators booking for 7 or 14 days (possibly 10) and we thought it would be ideal to do 4 nights on a liveaboard to see how we get on and 3 nights+ at a resort. Anyway, any help or pointers in the right direction would be greatly appreciated also whether we should do our Advanced Open Water in the UK before we go or not?

Many thanks!
