Thailand is a fantastic place for a romantic holiday. We spent a morning in a spa for our wedding aniversery and it doesn't get much more romantic and relaxing than that. The beaches are great and the service in the hotel is the best in the world. If you want to dive, it's good value and some of the sites are amazing. The only problem is deciding where in Thailand to go. We went to Koh Samui and booked through Trailfinders who got us by far and away the bext deal. It's also so cheap once you're there so really must spend your cash on the hotel, you won't be disappointed.

I have just returned from honeymoon and am very biased in recommending Sabah region of Borneo. Loads to see and do - Orangutans, proboscis monkeys, giant caves, highest mountain in SE Asia (which is a great experience and any muppet can do ) not to mention jungle walks.

The people are incredibly friendly and nearly all speak English...its not nearly as wild and woolly as it sounds and is very tourist friendly.

The diving is imense and Sipadan is rated as one of the top three dives sites in the world. We were seeing 30-40 turtles on many dives, thousand strong shoals of chevron barracuda. You could often see the white tips while snorkelling and if you are lucky occasionally large shoals of scalloped hammerheads. Its mainly wall dives with a 600m drop off only 10m from the beach. Some of the dives are fast drifts but the divemasters were very good and there was always close supervision for less experienced.

As a marine reserve, there is no longer accomodation on Sipadan but Kapalai is the best alternative and offers luxury stilted chalets built around a sand bar an hours speed boat ride from the mainland. There was great macro diving off there, although after a morning on Sipadan the usual reef stuff seems a little pedestrian.
