Hey all,

Just a quick introduction as i'm new to this forum, my name is Adam, i'm 19 years old, and currently working in Manchester as a Quantity Surveyor for a Construction & Management company!

I've always wanted to become an instructor, since my first dive a number of years ago, since then i've completed my Open Water, and Advanced Open Water courses in various nice sunny countries!

So basically, i'm about to quit my job, and move abroad to pursue my dream and become a diving instructor.

I've enquired to various centres, and decided upon the European Diving Centre, their site can be found here.

Does anybody have any experience diving with these people, or indeed in Sharm el Sheikh in general?

My intentions are to head over for a couple of months, and complete all the dives, and training required (along with as much additional diving i can physically do!) then find a job somewhere, be it there, or another country all together.

I'm just about to purchase all of my kit also, so if anybody has any recommendations on decent, reasonably priced kit, i'd appreciate a link!

Anyhoo, I'd best stop going on with myself, one last thing before i get back to browsing the internet (rather than working)... anyone planning on heading out to Sharm in the next couple of months? Would be cool to meet up with some fellow divers from the UK, and i'll talk to anyone anyway!!

Hi Junkie,
The reason you can not post active links on here is simply that UK Diving relies on advertising revenue to keep the huge resource we provide to the user. We also get so many spam or unsuitable links so we had to stop allowing these click throughs. I will put this link live though for you as I know the European Diving Centre.

Cheers Dan

Cheers Dan,

I understand that you must get a lot of unsuitable/spam links.

You say you know the European Diving Centre, what are they like and would you recommend them for my instructor training?

Thanks in Advance,

Adam

Hi Junkie,

I have not personally gone with them but I know they are a large diving operation that cover the Red Sea, Turkey and Majorca.. So you have a choice!!! personally I would try Turkey as I went there last year and it was fantastic - Kalkan near Kas. If you want me to look at some prices for you just say and I will give them a call see what I can do
Cheers matey.

Dan,

I'm pretty certain i'll do my training in Egypt at the Red Sea with them, but maybe worth looking into doing some dives over in Turkey also!

I plan to try and find work somewhere (probably not Egypt, its a bit bare and baron to live in i think) after i've completed the training, and am totally open to offers and ideas!

Also, if you have any influence with them with regards to possibly reducing prices, if you'd be willing to give them a call, i've been dealing with Emma, and she's been incredibly helpful, but was unable to reduce the price when asked!

Like she said, you don't ask you don't get.

Hi Again,

I will see what I can do!!! Also where are you thinking of working abroad if not Egypt? As part of my job I have to research places 2 dive so I get to know a bit about each area so just say a couple of places and I will be able to get a bit of info on the areas for you.

Cheers, Dan

Dan,

I'm not too sure where i fancy working after i've completed my training, Do you have any suggestions?

Somewhere where there is diving all year round is obviously important, but somewhere that'd be good and easy to live, and adapt to would be good too.

I've booked and paid for my training now, and in just over 2 weeks i'm off to Sharm El Sheikh!

Can't wait!

Adam
