Is it possible to dive on the village of Capel Celyn in the Tryweryn valley? Does anyone know of people who have dived here?

Hi Berty,

Stunning white water rafting out of the outflow. I have dived and made a fair number of applications thoughout the UK to dive similar sites. Legally these are very tricky and you'll need to put a good case together (eg historical, safety, research etc etc). Be careful too that this may fall under the health and safety at work act given the nature of the diving/project (see the HSE answer on the technical Q&A forum - my reply to that question covers this point).

Basically you apply to dive the site and it is best to apply to the Water Authority that manages the reservoir... if it is near the in flow or outflow they'll reject your diving request hands down. If it is safely away then depending on the why (they usually have a sense of humour failure at 'cos its there'), then your in with a good chance. contact me direct via links on Q&A and i'll help you if needed.

It has taken a while to secure but I do altitude diving at a reservoir site in the UK and its stunning. Some of these valleys make absolute picturesque dives.

cheers Andrew.
