Do not dive/will not dive BUT want to buy a surprise birthday present for the husband for a very important birthday. Am looking at Brayka Bay Hotel, Marsa Alam which hosts Pioneer Divers.

The husband is a reasonably experience sport diver, likes scenic and wreck diving. Would Brayka & Pioneer be a good buy? Is Pioneer good value? Any comments? Thanks anyone who takes the time to respond. :-)) A Total Landlubber

Hya landlubber,

Nice pressy, but nor sure abour Marsa Alam as a shore base. I took the Grand Sea Serpent from there last September and the town was a building site with just one hotel open.
At risk of being too negative, I notice your (lucky) hubby likes both scenic and wrecks. Well he won't find a wreck near M.A. Most of the wrecks are up north and are well attended. Personally I would always take a liveaboard in the Red Sea - at least you get a chance of going where the shore based boats can't reach.
Having said all that, he will see some great dives where ever he is based.

Best wishes.

Tony
