Hey all here is a way of solving an equivelent air depth calculation. The EAD formula is set like this:

EAD= (1-o2%) x (D+33) / 0.79 - 33

KEY
EAD= equivelent Air Depth
D=Diving depth on mixture
o2%=Oxygen concentration in breathing medium (percentage decimal).
FSW=feet of sea water

Example Problem
While breathing a mixture containing 40% oxygen
(o2%=0.40) at 70 FSW (D=70) the equivelent air depth would be:

1. (1- 0.40) x (70+33) / 0.79 - 33
2. (0.60) x (103) / 0.79 - 33
3. (0.60) x (103) = 61.8
4. 61.8 / 0.79 - 33
5. 45.2 fsw

The equivelent air deoth at 70fsw is 45.2 fsw.
