I want a reel with a closed handle, like a D and big enough
to get my gloved hand through so I can still reach out to things and hold
them without the reel escaping. I also want a ratchet on it that I can
thumb down to run it free. It must be of good construction and have ample line capacity.
Don’t want much do I? Any body know of such a beast?

Hi Pasty Farmer
I personnaly haven't seen a reel with a handel that big, If there where one I wouldn't recommend buying it. Purely for saftey reasons

The best thing to do (if you ain't already) is put a short lanyard on your reel, and clip it to yourself. Tha way you can always let go of your reel all together on Deco/saftey stop.

On another subject take a look at this site:http://www.indalomarine.com/index.html
Its in July Issue of Sport Diver.

Good luck and safe diving
