HI
Can someone tell me how to stop a Jetstream from leaking? The 2nd stage is bubbling about every 1 to 2 seconds, & is really doing my head in. I have only had it 2 weeks & used it once. I took it back to the shop I got it from & they said that they all leak & it's normal. This sounds like bullsh*t to me, I reckon it needs adjusting but don't know how. Any suggestions? Cheers.

When you say that the 2nd stage is bubbling every few seconds, I expect that if you check it you will find that the bubbling is not coming from the second stage itself but rather from the union where it joins the hose. If this is correct, then this the point at which the air is escaping is an over-pressure valve and in fact you can replicate the problem by pulling the second stage away from the hose slightly and you will see that a bubble of air escapes from that joint. This feature exists in order to protect the system as Jetstreams failsafe closed rather than to freeflow - unlike most other regs. The problem is probably caused by a fault in the first stage which is freeflowing and therfore causing a pressure build up in the hose. Certainly take it back to the shop and they should replace the first stage without any quibble. I f the unit is secondhand - and with this fault, it most likely is then they should repair it. What you are seeing here is one of the nice features of your Jetstream set. A different make would freeflow on you and drain your tank extremely rapidly - could be very scary at depth!
Where are you and what is the name of the shop? I think that other divers deserve to know this.

Glyn,
Ive got two jetstreams and they have never leaked. They do sometimes freeflow on the surface but the switch stops this. I think they are an excellant reg & have used them for a number of years, mainly because they can give so much air on demand.........TAKE EM BACK!!!
