I'd never heard of them, but it looks like the place I'm going in Mexico, the only dive operator / instructor is SSI affiliated rather than PADI. Does anyone know much about SSI? Are they reputable? Are their courses any good? (my wife wants to do the equivalent of a PADI Open Water)... Are they widely recognised, such that my wife's SSI certification would be as widely accepted as the equivalent PADI card? I'd appreciate any help / opinions at all on this!

Thanks

Hi the SSi are in the uk http://www.ssiuk.com I havent done any training with them but I know as a Instructor you have to work through a centre which is affiliated to the SSI why not do the openwater course over here (Padi) and just dive on your holiday.
Thanks

I know several SSI instructors and they all seem very capable. It is an alternative to PADI, and any other training organisation will recognise their qualifications.
