Hi Andrew,
Which torch would you recommend for technical diving? I have looked at GreenForce, Halcyon and Metal Sub. I am prepared to pay up to around the 600 mark but I require a few things. HID lamp, beam focus control, at least 2 hours of burn time. What do you think?

Hi there,

Well depends on use ->

For Video'ing then the greenforce range have a special set using F11 100 Watt equivalent HID's - these are stunning...

For Digital Photography they do a HID 50 pro head which is very very good.

For general wreck diving I prefer a small 35 Watt or 50 Watt HID head and either Greenforce or FaMi. I know FaMi had lots of curly lead problems - but the straight leads made up specifically to your requirements have been perfect. I like the small battery pack which fits under your shoulder blade in that dead space between the back plate and wing - then run the cable over your shoulder and down your arm to a goodman handle and lamp head.

There is no doubt the Halcyon range is good and likewise Metal Sub, however I do prefer the above as the engineering, reliability and on site repairability is very very straight forward.

If you let me know the use and diving (depth) you do - i'll give you more detailed suggestions...

Regards, Andrew.
