How long after sinus surgery can I dive?
Hello all, I am hoping for some advice.

I have (after a long wait) been given a date for sinus surgery. I cannot wait :)

I know that everyone is different, but roughly long after this is done can I get back in the water? I have a holiday booked 12 weeks after my surgery, and I hope to dive then at the latest??

Hopefully, it will be balloon surgery, but I may have a polyp that will require scraping out.

Will I need to see a dive Doctor to get verified fit?

thank you!

Fran x

PS: this may have been asked before, but I can't work out how to search the forum, lol

Thanks for the query.

As you say, recovery time depends greatly on what exactly the surgeons have to do, and given that the area is very well supplied with blood, the swelling and inflammation afterwards can be significant. That said, I think your 12 week timescale should be feasible. I would suggest that you see a dive doc once things have settled to get the all clear to dive.

Hope that helps

Thank you VERY much for your reply. I'll find a dive doctor and hope for the best :)
