Hi i am a 44 year old male currently holding the padi scuba diver qualification, and would love to advance to open water. After having blood pressure problems , i am currently on medication, 10 mg ramapril. My bp is down to 130 over 80 and stable, could you please advise me ,about any steps i need to take before doing any more diving. Thankyou.

Thanks for the query.

I always advise anyone with high blood pressure to have a medical, to allow us to examine the heart and ensure there are no complications that might endanger underwater safety. Ramipril itself doesn't usually present a problem.

So see your local dive doc, or if you're in or near London we can do a "fit to dive" medical for 60 which covers the examination you need. It's 0207 806 4028 for an appointment.
