Hi doc, 14 years ago i was diagnosed with polycythemia i am now 48. it does not cause me any problems at all, i have follow up checks usually every 12 weeks and have only had 1 veinous section in the last year and a half, that was 6 months ago. the only medication that i take is asprin daily. i have had a three try dives after being seen by the dive centers doc. would this stop me from doing my padi open water and would it effect getting dive insurance if i could dive?

Treated polycythemia with near normal blood counts, a normal sized spleen and none of the side effects of medication should be allowed to dive - on a case by case basis, with the approval of the diver's attending physician.
So we ned to see you to assess the above
Happy Xmas
