We have just returned from the Maldives. Two weeks ago I lightly touched a piece of Green hard Coral and was left with a small graze on my knee. The next day this had turned into a brown ring half a centimetre across. This developed into a ring of about 5 red bumps in a horseshoe shape where the ring was. After a few days I had a similar horseshoe a centimetre higher. Over time this has grown and there are now 5 similar shapes. I am due to give platelets tomorrow. Can I be sure that I will not cause any problems to anyone that might receive a transfusion from me.

I would be grateful if someone could get back to me ASAP as I feel this is not a question my GP could answer.

YOu will be fine, this is a localised reaction and will not affect your platelets, so you are ok to donateyours
