: : : HMS Warwick sunk by U413 in approx posn 50 29 50.5N 005 25 13W on 20/02/44. No information regarding burial of the dead.

: I saw your site on the net. In my retirement I work as a part-time receptionist in St Mary's church in Warwick. Above our desk hangs the ensign from HMS Warwick and alongside it is a plaque saying that the ship was lost off Cornwall in February of 1944. The ensign was dedicated and handed over to the church in 1994 on the fiftieth anniversary of the sinking. That is as much as I can tell you. Like you I would be very interested to learn more about the sinking and to find out the names of the men who were lost and where they are interred. The following website gave me details of the submarine U 143 which was responsible for the sinking. www.swanseahistoryweb.org.uk/history/bristoic/uboats/u_413.htm. If you find any more information or indeed if I do wecan exchange details best regards. Alan Griffyn
