Out of the seven species and one sub-species of marine turtle that are found in the world only one is not either endangered or critically endangered according to CITIES. When a species is this close to extinction due to over-exploitation it is never acceptable to continue harvesting them, especially if done so for reasons such as their apparent aphrodisiac qualities or for making cheap souvenir trinkets.
