Understanding female buddy required for 2 male divers. Ideally needs to finish dive 20 minutes earlier than buddies so she can get the bacon and eggs cooking. Willingness to participate in post dive "entertainment" an advantage.

Hi. Good to find an honest male diver out there who is up front with what he is looking for. Too many creeps out there who advertise for female dive buddies for only one reason. I will dive with you but you can cook the food and the post dive entertainment will be a pint in the pub at your expense. Is this fair?

A grand offer. Pleased to see you entering into the spirit of things. Next dive at Cromhall on the 05/07/08. Haven't had a decent diving Menage a Trois for ages. Too many hairy bottomed men usually.

Haha, sounds like this lady has the upper hand already! Fair play though, you'll get to spend at least an hour with a woman and it won't be ruined by her opening her mouth and moaning about something! Maybe make up for it on surface intervals though!!! Haha

Got to agree that she sounds more of a Pat Butcher than a Kiera Knightley. This could have advantages though, more likely to have false teeth ...

How did you know about the teeth? Also I bet you are ecstatic to find I am 4 feet tall and have a flat head! Men - so predictable! Can't make it in July. Let me know when you dive again.

Bloody hell, thats it then you can come diving with me too! You sound like my ideal woman, this should be called UK Dating not UK Diving... How fantastic!

ScubaMonkey. Think you may be out of luck here, sounds as though she is batting for the opposition to me. Find yourself a nice lady diver like all the ones in the PADI videos.

Whether you speak the truth or not I am not sure I like what is being implied here. Are you implying that because I have stood up to you I must be a butch lesbian? Or, alternatively, is this just a total wind up? Either way, chauvanism rules OK!

Oh dear, I hope this bit of banter isn't turning nasty! I would find myself a nice young lady diver but i've been told that all the nice ones are working their little socks off in places like the Maldives and Thailand. As I seem to be struggling to find the cash to get to stoney these days it looks like i'll have to put up with the moaning from non diving women who just don't seem understand that yes 3 dives do take all bloody day!!! haha.

Total windup really. Didn't expect anybody to bite but when you did I couldn't resist letting me evil sense of humour run riot. I think I will bow out now.

Good on ya pburch! I am also sorry if my comments caused any offence. It certainly wasn't intended. Sorry STracey.

Boys. This sounds perfect for me. I find I always run out of air before my buddies and I love cooking for people. Diving leaves me on such a high that I am always up for a spot of post diving entertainment to bring me back down (why is this in "s though?). Let me know when you are next diving and I will be there.

I went on 2 discover scuba dives while I was on a Club 18-30 holiday in Sharm el Sheikh which were great. I don't have any of my own kit but I am sure I can hire some.

I think you'll need to do your openwater course first.

EssexGirl. ScubaMonkey is quite correct. You need to have an open water qualification to dive with a buddy. You can get this at many places in the UK. I would suggest you also get a dry suit qualification as you won't be able to hire one without this qualification. In the mean time, if you want to begin to develop your understanding of UK diving, your are quite welcome to come and help us with our kit and do the cooking. Most dive sites let you in free if you are not diving.

I don't understand. What is a dry suit? I was fine diving in a 3mm shortie in Egypt last summer. Can't I rent one of these?

Haha, EssexGirl you would be doing some very short dives in a 3mm shorty in this country. The water is freezing in comparison to water temperatures most places abroad. Put your hand under the coldwater tap at home, that will give you some idea of how cold the water is for the inland sites at least. The deeper you go the colder it gets. You could try your 3mm shorty but my advice is to keep it for your pool sessions when you do your open water course. A drysuit as you've asked is exactly that, a full suit with boots attached, the neck and wrists have seals and the intention is to keep the body dry so that layers of clothing can be worn beneath the suit. The thermal protection under the suit can be increased or decreased dependent on water temperatures. These suits are air tight and are used for bouyancy on dives, the air in the suit also helps to insulate the diver. I hope this is of some help to you. Oh and if you felt kinda sexy in your little shorty on your hols my guess is you're gonna be a bit disappointed by the drysuit!!! haha.

ScubaMonkey. You have the patience of a saint. I had to stop myself replying to this several times as I know I would have caused further offence ;-)

I did the same to be fair as I thought it must be a wind up but I decided to give EssexGirl the benefit of the doubt and feel that she needs someone to take her under their wing! haha. If you're not pulling my leg EssexGirl and I can help, i'll certainly try. Don't go thinking you're special though, i'll help anyone!

Scubamonkey and pburch. Thanks for your kind postings explaining to me what I need to do. Most people don't take me seriously because I am an Essex blond. Good to find some genuine people out there. Have you guys known each other long? Can you recommend any good dive schools? Is the offer still open for me to come and help you with your kit until I am qualified?

Scubamonkey - not all lady divers are working there socks off in the maldives, some are enjoying diving in the north sea. I thought you men liked us women divers to be independent and equal, and not just there to make you cups of tea lol

I don't know pburch but he seems up for a laugh. EssexGirl I live up in the midlands so not too close to Essex unfortunately, I can't really help you out with a dive school but i'm sure there are plenty round by you. At stoney cove i've noticed that dive schools from down your way use it for training their students, so maybe just try stoney cove as you'll probably have to drive up to there anyway. http://www.stoneycove.com/

Sue I don't like independant women because they're bloody dangerous and independant female divers are like something beyond the realms of my imagination! Now get the bloody kettle on! haha, only joking. To be honest I like most people that dive mainly due to the fact that anyone that is willing to dress up like we do most weekends must have a bloody great sense of humour. It's the hood I like best, looks great with any outfit!
